A Dream Come True at Last! Flydubai Set to Launch Direct Flights from Dubai to Pokhara; Nepali Expats Thrilled!
After a long wait, hundreds of thousands of Nepali expatriates working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have finally received good news. Dubai-based airline Flydubai has begun preparations to operate direct flights to Pokhara International Airport. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has already granted Flydubai permission to operate regular flights on the Dubai–Pokhara–Dubai route.
According to airport authorities, an initial schedule for daily flights starting September 23 has been approved. Although Flydubai has not yet made a formal inaugural announcement, the administrative and technical preparations required to launch the route are progressing rapidly.
Recently, an expert team from Flydubai visited Pokhara International Airport. They evaluated the airport's security systems, runway, ground handling facilities, and international operational capabilities. This inspection is seen as a crucial step in the preparation for launching the flights.
According to experts, the launch of Flydubai's direct flights will add a new dimension to Pokhara International Airport. Currently, most international passengers have to travel via Kathmandu. The introduction of this new route will make travel much easier and more time-saving for passengers from Pokhara and its surrounding regions.
In particular, the large number of Nepali expatriates working in the UAE will have the opportunity to arrive directly at an airport closer to their home regions. This is expected to significantly reduce both travel costs and time.
According to economic and tourism experts, establishing a direct Dubai-Pokhara connection will not only benefit expatriates but also have a positive impact on Nepal's tourism, hotel industry, and local economy. Direct air connectivity between the Middle East and Pokhara, one of the world's most popular tourist cities, could also play a major role in attracting foreign tourists.
Although final ticket sales and the formal inaugural announcement are still pending, relevant circles believe that if everything proceeds according to plan, Pokhara International Airport will receive one of its first major regular international commercial flights starting this September.
This is being considered a significant milestone for Nepal's aviation sector. After waiting a long time for international flights, Pokhara International Airport is finally set to become more prominent on the global map.
